Egyptair appoints IAM in Ireland (12th May 2010)

IAM has been appointed as GSSA for Egyptair Cargo in Ireland. It is the first time that the airline has had formal cargo representation in this country.

Egyptair operates nine wide-body flights per week from London Heathrow to its Cairo hub, supplemented by seven freighters per week from Kent International and Ostend, connecting to a network of 76 destinations throughout Egypt, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Ian McCool, MD of IAM, says: “Egyptair provides us with attractive new options to many key destinations that are in constant demand for Ireland’s growing pharma export business and existing IT traffic. The airline’s freighters also offer welcome maindeck cargo capacity for large shipments, outsize cargo and those commodities that are not permitted on passenger aircraft.”

The current Egyptair fleet comprises 64 aircraft, including four A300 freighters. The airline has firm orders for 24 more aircraft, and recently began taking delivery of new B777-300 aircraft, which will be introduced on various of its long-haul routes, replacing older 200 series aircraft and adding some 30% to their cargo capacity.

IAM is the lead company in a successful aviation services group, represents 13 major airlines, and is the exclusive Irish member of EGSAC, the world’s largest GSA network with 130+ stations in 30+
