Obituary: Gene Fitzgerald (21st Dec 2007)

International Airline Marketing (IAM) Group of Dublin, Ireland, is deeply saddened to report the death of its Chairman Gene Fitzgerald, aged 75, following a short illness. Mr. Fitzgerald was appointed Chairman of IAM in 1996, following a distinguished career in Irish politics and government which began in 1972, and during which he served as Minister for Labour and Public Service, and Minister for Finance. He went on to serve two terms as Munster’s Member of the European Parliament, before finally retiring from politics in 1994. He won every election at which he stood.

IAM targets Irish market for Jet Airways (10th Aug 2007)

Jet Airways Cargo is following up its success in the UK with a drive to grab a share of the Irish market. The airline now has plenty of cargo space following its introduction of larger B777 aircraft on its primary London-Mumbai route, and can transfer cargo from all Ireland’s major airports using overnight express road feeders.

IAM to market Jett8 in Ireland (20th July 2007)

IAM, Ireland’s largest cargo GSSA company, has been appointed to market airfreight capacity for newly-launched Jett8 Airlines Cargo - Singapore’s first all cargo airline.

Jett8 has commenced twice-weekly (Thursday and Sunday) B747-200 freighter services from the UK’s Manchester Airport via Dubai to its Singapore hub, with onward freighter flights to Hong Kong. IAM will link with the flights using its scheduled express road feeder services from Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Belfast.

IAM exceeds market growth, but warns of falling rates (19th June 2007)

Official statistics for Irish air exports for the first quarter of 2006 show IAM, Ireland’s largest GSSA, is still performing ahead of the market with 8% growth, against an overall market increase of 7%.

IAM now controls c.20% of all Irish air exports through its client carriers, while the largest self-representing global airline in the Irish market accounts for just 7%. “ Destinations in the USA are running at up to 118% year on year,” says IAM MD Ian McCool. “and with additional direct flights being added by client carriers such as Air Canada and Austrian during their summer schedules, we expect other destinations to show good growth too.”

IAM sees high-value exports drive premium airfreight demand (8th June 2007)

The high value and urgency of many Irish airfreight exports is driving a mini-boom in express and time-definite airfreight services, according to IAM - Ireland’s largest cargo GSSA. Dublin-based IAM – which represents 13 leading airlines, and accounts for around 20% of all Irish airfreight exports – has seen steady growth in demand for premium-rated services such as American Airlines’ (AA) Expeditefs product, which promises priority loading and reduced transit times or a full money-back guarantee. AA alone uplifted 29000 kilos on the service from Ireland in March.

IAM salutes China Airlines boss’s award (3rd May 2007)

The Chairman of China Airlines – one of the most important cargo carriers in the Irish market – has received a lifetime achievement award in the globally-renowned Cargo Airline of the Year Awards. The Award – presented in London on April 28 – recognised Chairman Philip Wei’s visionary role in the air cargo industry and exceptional management of CAL's own cargo operations. It is the first time that the senior executive of an Asian airline has received the award.

IAM wins Jet Airways in Ireland (7th March 2007)

Jet Airways of India has appointed IAM as its cargo GSSA for Ireland, with immediate effect. The appointment of IAM - Ireland’s largest cargo GSSA - marks the first active marketing of Jet Airways’ cargo capacity in Ireland, since it began international services to London in 2005.

Jet Airways now operates a total of 27 flights per week from London Heathrow to Mumbai, Delhi and Amritsar, using A330 and A340 aircraft with approximately 14 tonnes’ capacity per flight. These flights link to the airline’s extensive domestic network which uses B737 and ATP aircraft.
